Michelle Van Kesteren
Michelle joined the Healthfocus team in 2008 after graduating with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Charles Sturt University in 2007. Michelle grew up on the border and has worked with a number of different sporting teams in the region. Michelle works full-time out of our Lavington clinic.
Michelle has experience in pre and postoperative orthopaedic rehabilitation and sports injury prevention, management and rehabilitation.
Michelle completed a Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy through La Trobe University in 2015. Michelle went on to complete the Masters in Sports Physiotherapy through La Trobe University which enabled her to become a titled Australian Physiotherapy Association Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist, in 2019. This post-graduate work has advanced Michelle’s clinical skills to manage more complex sports and musculoskeletal injuries using current and evidence-based management principles and therapy.
Michelle has recently became a certified GLA:D® Physiotherapist allowing her to provide high quality, comprehensive and evidence-based programs, consisting of education and exercise, to patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis.
Michelle has a special interest in upper limb injuries and has extensive experience in splint fabrication and casting and has further undertaken training, as a component of her Masters course, with a Specialist Shoulder Physiotherapist. This training has advanced her clinical expertise and skills in the management of shoulder injuries.
Michelle loves the outdoors and keeping fit through running and weight –training.
